Failure Analysis of Breakaway Couplings on Light Poles

In this project, the failure modes of breakaway couplings on highway lighting posts are being investigated. Field studies to determine how breakaways fail in service are conducted and laboratory testing of breakaway materials determines the strength of the breakaway materials. This is a joint University of Rhode Island (URI) and Brown University project supported by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT).
