ITS for Variable Load Restrictions
The objective of this project is to develop systems that can determine the load-bearing capacity of a road in various weather conditions. Developing dynamic load restrictions based on mechanical principles, such as temperature and moisture content of the pavement foundation, requires an understanding of the data that needs to be collected. This project will: examine what systems are used outside Canada; determine what data needs to be collected, and how; and determine the hardware and software requirements.
