Development of GIS Standards for ITS
The objective of this project is to develop a traffic system spatial infrastructure that allows the integration of geographical or locational information into a transportation management system. Being able to integrate geographic information system (GIS) data into intelligent transportation systems offers significant advantages, primarily for geographical or locational information applications. A major advantage is that much of this data already exists, however open standards that would allow it to be readily used by ITS applications are still in development. This project is intended to begin to bridge that gap.
