Overlay/Evaluation of Tack and Bond of HMA OVerlays of PCC
The objective of this study will be to quantify the impact of various tack coats and application rates and surface textures on the permanent deformation of the HMA overlay. The field performance will be validated with laboratory testing of the interface on laboratory prepared specimens using cores taken from the PCC pavement prior to paving and an IDOT HMA mixture. Laboratory testing will be conducted on the HMA mixtures to characterize their permanent deformation characteristics, and dynamic modulus values, now required for new mechanistic empirical performance comparisons
