Corridor Speed Management Strategies Toolbox
This project will develop a repository of speed management countermeasures that are applicable for use in Virginia based on existing evidence-based research of traffic calming and speed management practices in the United States. The scope will be limited to applications for state and regional highways. The toolbox will include countermeasure definitions and a description of the appropriate context for application. The countermeasure details may include contexts with evidence for speed management effectiveness, contexts where countermeasures may be appropriate, and contexts where further research is needed to justify their use. This contextual guidance will provide useful information for practitioners in Virginia.
