Safety and Operational Performance Assessment of CFIs and DDIs in Utah
This research project will assess the safety and operational performance of Continuous Flow Intersections (CFIs) and Diverging Diamond Interchanges (DDIs) in Utah. The study will develop Utah-specific Safety Performance Functions (SPFs), Crash Modification Factors (CMFs), and Adjustment Factors (AFs), using Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) data resources and advanced analytical techniques including statistical modeling, machine learning, and computer vision. The findings will support updates to UDOT design guidelines and planning tools such as CAP-X, SPICE, and ICE.
