Balance Mix Design Data Validation
Balanced mix design (BMD) focuses on optimizing an asphalt mixture’s cracking and rutting performance rather than relying on traditional volumetric properties in its formulation. Over the past five years, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) asphalt contractors have implemented BMD practices. However, no research has looked at the relationship between asphalt performance test results submitted by contractors and the real-world performance of asphalt mixtures.
