SPR-5015: Augmenting INDOT’s Remotely Controlled Vehicle with a LiDAR Unit for Culvert Monitoring
This research will address the augmentation of the Indiana Department of Transportationi (INDOT)’s Remotely Controlled (RC) Vehicle with a LiDAR unit for quantitative monitoring of culverts. Current vehicles are relying on video cameras for qualitative visual inspection. Equipping the RC vehicles with LiDAR sensors will facilitate the generation of point clouds, which can be used for geometric documentation of the culvert’s internal structure (derivation of precise measurements of the culvert dimensions).
