Simple for Dead, Continuous for Live (SDCL) - MoDOT Steel Superstructure Standards
Use of Simple for Dead, Continuous for Live (SDCL) steel superstructures on Missouri roadways can potentially save money on projects where the current standards (continuous for dead and live load) are more expensive and/or cannot compete with concrete superstructures. The research team will create engineering policy guidance with standard details for inclusion in Section 751.14. Guidance would include span configurations where this methodology is best value or competitive. Standard details would primarily address the superstructure detail over intermediate bents.
