Seat Pitch Study Independent Peer Review
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires an independent peer review of its prior study of the impact of seat size and passenger seating space and pitch on the ability of passengers to evacuate a transport category airplane safely and efficiently to determine if that study was technically adequate or additional research is required. This peer review, which was requested by AVS-1, will inform the FAA’s larger study addressing aircraft evacuation modernization and improvement (specifically consideration (B)(vii)) that was directed in Section 365 of the 2024 FAA Reauthorization Act to be completed by May 8, 2025.
