Synthesis of Information Related to Airport Practices. Topic S04-29. Airport Safety Risk Management Panel Activities and Outcomes

ACRP Synthesis 71, Airport Safety Risk Management Panel Activities and Outcomes was published in 2016 when 14 airports had participated in the FAA Part 139 Safety Management Systems (SMS) Implementation Study. In 2023 Advisory Circular 150/5200-37A Safety Management Systems for Airports detailing and implementing SMS programs was released. The information in Synthesis 71 is almost 10 years old and with the implementation of SMS at airports which refined the Safety Risk Management (SRM) process, it would be beneficial to update the synthesis. The objective of this synthesis is to describe current airport practices of Safety Risk Management processes. The audience for this report is airport operators conducting SRM panels.
