Rural Intersection Safety for Autonomous and Connected Vehicles
This research will enable connected and autonomous vehicles to safely and efficiently travel at/through rural intersections by utilizing novel low-cost intersection-installed hardware that is suitable for widespread deployment. The developed technology will be experimentally demonstrated at a rural intersection in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) using a Level 3 autonomous vehicle belonging to the University of Minnesota.
