Emerging Practices in Community Engagement for Transportation Planning
The purpose of the study is to examine new and emerging techniques and develop approaches for integrating them into the current Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) system of resources and training, including but not limited to updates to the PERG, to ensure that the interests of key affected groups are adequately integrated into project planning. The key objectives of the study are to: (1) ensure FDOT employees and consultant staff have access to the most up-to-date guidance and approaches, (2) design engagement approaches that build public consensus and support around planned infrastructure projects, and (3) support planning processes that promote infrastructure projects that align with the seven goals of the Florida Transportation Plan.
