Evaluation of Midblock Pedestrian Signals (MPS)
This project is to conduct extensive evaluation analysis to understand the effectiveness of midblock pedestrian signals (MPS). (1) The project will comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness of MPS for the immediate and longer-term periods after installation. (2) The project will use emerging technologies to collect extensive data regarding traffic operational effects, safety benefits, pedestrians’ crossing behaviors, and drivers’ compliance of yielding to pedestrians with different pedestrian crossing enhancement countermeasures.
