Research into Job Classifications for DVR Employees
The Kentucky Department of Vehicle Regulation (DVR) is having difficulty recruiting and retaining staff. Many good staffers have left for employment in the private sector or other state agencies that offer better pay and benefits. A large percentage of employees in DMC, DDL, DMVL or DCS are either temporary staff or classified as an Administrative Specialist I, II, or III. DVR administrators feel pay scales make it difficult to attract and retain quality employees. They contend that in many cases employees carry out functions that require more complex, technically sophisticated evaluative and auditing processes than typically required of an administrative specialist position. In this study, researchers will analyze DVR jobs and compare responsibilities to the administrative specialist classification series to determine if a new job series is warranted.
