Climate Challenge
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are effectively environmental nutrition labels for materials. While EPDs are a much-needed step towards quantification of environmental impacts of materials, in most cases, they are not currently suitable for direct comparison between materials or between products. This project will evaluate the components of EPDs practical and important for Missouri, assess the current state of EPD availability in Missouri as compared to national trends, and provide a practical roadmap for moving forward. In addition to assessing currently available EPDs, the project will identify materials, processes, and other areas where EPD information may be lacking and provide recommendations on the required critical mass of EPDs needed for decision making.
