TSR Replacement and Stripping Tests River Gravel in Asphalt Mixes
This project will look at the use of river gravel in asphalt mixes and the effectiveness of performance tests in measuring the quality and durability. A few mixes recently with Osage River Gravel have had issues with stripping when the River Gravel has been in the lower layers. They seem to be performing fine on the surface but in the lower layer where they sit near the bottom and may remain saturated for a period of time, they are causing stripping. The research team needs to be able to correlate these mixes to the Balanced Mix Design tests so that they fail when the team has a mix that is going to strip.
