Operationalizing Safety Risk Management for Maintaining Aerospace Medicine Risk Controls

In FY23, the Office of Aerospace Medicine developed an aeromedical Safety Risk Management (SRM) framework to support its efforts to implement a Safety Management System (SMS) consistent with FAA Orders 8040.4 and 8000.367. The purpose of this project is to develop the detailed SRM sub-processes and decision support tools necessary to transition the SRM framework. This project will develop instructional materials and Quality Management System procedures, and using these materials, facilitate a series of workshops to perform SRM on at least one identified aeromedical hazard to update medical conditions in OneGuide. The result of this project will be an operationalized SRM process for managing Office of Aerospace Medicine risk controls.
