Traffic Control Device Selection at Intersections with Two-Way Bicycle Facilities

The number of request from local partners for side running two-way bicycle facilities as well as internally has increased. The national guidance regarding traffic control device (TCD) selection for bicycle movements (stop signs, bicycle signal heads, other warning signs), is advancing but does not cover all of the considerations when actually implementing a project. Further, if a movement is to be signalized, the specific requirements regarding actuation of a movement and the devices used to do so and the considerations in the signal cabinet and maintenance require further study and evaluation. This project will provide additional Policy and Design Guidance to streamline project delivery, reducing the time required to implement projects.
