SMS – Validating simplifying assumptions for estimating pilot incapacitation risk 17.7
This research project will leverage existing aerospace, medical claims and mortality datasets to validate the following proposed simplifying assumptions for estimating pilot incapacitation risk: (1) the cardiovascular death rate can be taken to approximate the cardiovascular incapacitation rate, and (2) cardiovascular mortality data alone provides a reasonable approximation for all-cause sudden in-flight incapacitations.
