Highway Investments and Land Value
This activity will enable the measurement of the contribution and distribution of highway investments on local and regional economies. These economic contributions and distribution are not captured in traditional benefit-cost analysis. With increasing recognition of the role of highways in achieving equity and livability, it is important to understand the multifaceted effects of highway investments in different communities. This activity will develop an empirical framework to analyze the impact of highway investment strategies in stimulating and sustaining local and regional economies, and the framework can be expanded to include business activities and other economic benefits. This activity will use advanced data source and sophisticated econometric approaches to evaluate the relationships between highway investments and residential land values, as well as the distribution of land value change across different demographic groups.
