Western Minnesota Contactless Payment Project
MnDOT is proposing a test of two contactless payment systems in order to better understand the impact on real and perceived passenger safety in fare collection during the COVID pandemic. MnDOT will take advantage of an already planned test of a fare card based payment system and add a mobile device payment system and a trip planning app. It will work with a University of Minnesota research team to gauge public perceptions and attitudes around safety and the impact of contactless payment.
