NTCIP 1218 Test Procedures
The National Transportation Communications for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Protocol (NTCIP) 1218 Object Definitions for Roadside Units (RSU) provides the interoperable interface for Transportation Management Centers (TMC) to monitor, operate and maintain RSUs. The NTCIP 1218 Test Procedures task develops and validates standardized test procedures that verify compliance necessary for interoperable deployment of RSUs in ITS infrastructure systems by State and local agencies. State and local agencies are starting to deploy RSUs in greater numbers and now is the optimal time to develop standardized test procedures that ensure the RSUs will be interoperable nationwide. This project will utilize the formally published NTCIP 1218 version 1 to develop standardized test procedures using the Test Procedure Generator (TPG) tool developed via the ITS Standards Program and verify them to support large-scale interoperable ITS implementations.
