Re-decking Prestressed Concrete Girders Phase II: Examining Long-term Impacts using Monte Carlo Simulations
Standard Reinforced Concrete Box (RCB) and Rigid Frame Box (RFB) designs used by Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) are load rated for standard HL-93 trucks per the Manual for Bridge Evaluation. Local entities and others who use standardized RCBs and RFBs from KDOT sometimes require load ratings for legal truck types other than the HL-93. There is a need for a simple and straight-forward program that is effective at converting existing HL-93 load ratings to load ratings based on other legal truck types. This program will simplify design checks and facilitate record keeping for local entitites throughout the state, saving time and money. The outcome of the proposed work will therefore be a program for relating/converting load ratings obtained with one truck type to a load rating obtained with another truck type for standard RCB and RFB bridges.
