UAS-Assisted Inspection of Bridges for Corrosion Effects
The main objective of this research is to provide GDOT with a proof-of-concept study for the ability to detect and characterize corrosion based on drone-collected imagery data. While drone data has been used to capture images about bridges, methodologies to quantitively assess and utilize this data are lacking. A main objective of this project is to explore the feasibility of using drones to capture data relevant to corrosion and create methodologies to analyze this data to both detect and characterize corrosion levels using this collected data.
