ACRP Web Resource for Airport User Choice Modeling and Analysis

Airport users’ ground access and egress transportation mode choice and airport choice models provide essential information for airport planning studies. An airport user's preference is one consideration for airport operators when evaluating investments in ground transportation access and egress infrastructure. This research will provide publicly available data for airport user choice modeling and analysis. The objective of this research is to develop an ACRP web resource to analyze and model the users’ choice of an airport based on ground access and egress transportation modes and air transportation decision drivers.  The web resource shall include the following.  (1) A repository of publicly available data pertinent to airport users, excluding transferring air travelers, including but not limited to:  (a) Type of airport users (e.g., employees, passengers by personas),  (b) Ground transportation decision drivers (e.g., location and zip code, availability of ground transportation, price points, parking availability, distance, traffic impacts, electric vehicle charging capability and capacity, and disability accessibility), and (c) Air transportation decision drivers (e.g., fares, airlines, routes, and times of travel). (2) Identify commonalities and variances between what data are collected and what terminology is used by airports specific to transportation modes and airport choice models. (3) Provide examples of how data may be utilized in airport planning and operational strategies.
