iTrain – Immersive Training of Department of Transportation Work Zone Inspectors using Virtual Reality

An Accelerated Market Readiness Grant was awarded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to fund additional training scenarios and implementation of the original research project TR201901. The grant will fund a minimum of 10 new scenarios including freeway, arterial, two-lane highways and interchanges. Equipment will be purchased for a pilot implementation in the three urban districts and one shared set of equipment for training within the four rural districts. Once the pilots have been completed expansion will be discussed.
