Assessment of Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero Emission Vehicle Policy to Increase ZEV Purchases by Fleets

This project concentrates on policy-focused research supporting the design and implementation of medium- and heavy-duty zero emission vehicle (ZEV) policies with a team of researchers from UC Davis' Institute of Transportation Studies. The study focuses on policy considerations for increasing fleets’ share of ZEVs' purchases. Based on available information on the internet and discussions with manufacturers, the research team will collect data on the planned launch of ZEV trucks by market class and their respective characteristics. On the supply side, the team will look at what kinds of incentives and policies for ZEV fleet adoption could be leveraged and used most effectively to support the market with public funds. In the following steps, the team will complete the current analysis by including global case studies of various incentive programs, as well as assessing how policies to increase ZEV sales in California and around the world will likely affect ZEV prices and availability in California.
