Clear Roads Entry-Level Driver Training Train-the-Trainer Webinars

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has published a final rule for Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT), which goes into effect on February 7, 2022. Clear Roads, which is comprised of 36 State Departments of Transportation (DOT), previously contracted with the University to develop a complete training program that meets the new FMCSA regulation, including train-the-trainer course materials. These train-the-trainer materials consist of three separate PowerPoint courses. The Clear Roads Committee recently asked the University to teach the train-the-trainer courses to CDL training personnel employed by Clear Roads member agencies via webinars. Two train-the-trainer webinars will be conducted with Clear Roads member agencies in an online application of their choice (e.g., Zoom, Go to Meetings, MS Teams, etc.). Three personnel (two University researchers and one expert CDL training consultant) will instruct attendees. It is anticipated that each webinar will take six total hours of time and will be divided into three sections in order to cover the full content of the train-the-trainer course.
