Condition Dependent Performance Based Seismic Design Phase I
This project defines the framework for Condition Dependent Performance Based Seismic Design (CD-PBSD), which is based on recent research at NC State, and will conduct large scale tests on bridge columns with corroded reinforcing steel. The resulting tests will provide data for model calibration that can then be used in a future phase to conduct large scale analysis to assess the impact of structural condition on response. Tasks will include a literature review, large scale tests on columns with corroded steel, verification of computational model and Buckled Bar Tension (BBT) test results, the development of Phase 2 plan, and a final report with preliminary recommendations.
