Impact of Real-Time Weather Information on Traffic Safety in Kentucky
The Kentucky Mesonet delivers real-time weather and atmospheric information at five-minute intervals. Understanding how the availability of real-time weather data influences the number and severity of traffic crashes is critical for enhancing Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's (KYTC’s) incident management, improving motorist safety, and reducing the number of collisions. This project will leverage microscopic data from Mesonet stations to understand patterns in traffic crashes and investigate the relationship between traffic crashes and real-time weather conditions.
