Digital Twin Technologies Towards Understanding the Interactions between Transportation and other Civil Infrastructure Systems

The project is focused on developing a digital twin (DT) model of a university campus with an emphasis on transportation infrastructure. The model will enable the team to study the effectiveness of DT for improving the system’s performance. The goal is to demonstrate the usefulness of the DT technology to optimize civil infrastructure design and management. More specifically, this project aims to develop a digital shadow of campus civil infrastructure (micro-level) and visualize impacts of construction project schedule on the surrounding transportation infrastructure. Various impact scenarios will be created using virtual reality and project outcomes will be shared through a stakeholder engagement workshop.
