Synthetic Fleet Generation and Vehicle Assignment to Synthetic Households for Regional and Sub-regional Sustainability Analysis

This research will develop a framework to combine several data sources (licensed household marketing demographics data, vehicle registration data, and license plate observation data) to generate sub-region synthetic fleets and assign these vehicles to synthetic households in travel demand models and to each model-predicted tour and set of trips. Two modeling frameworks will be developed using synthetic fleet modeling, one for household-vehicle-tour combinations used in regional trip-level and household-level emissions modeling, and the other for electric vehicle (EV) adoption modeling, which will be used to evaluate each household’s potential to purchase EVs and adopt EVs to specific trips. The proposed synthetic fleet modeling methods will enhance regional modeling, sub-regional sustainability analysis, and EV policy assessment.
