SPR-4535: Development of a Formalized Program for In-service Inspection of Pedestrian Bridges
Many pedestrian bridges are complex structures and may utilize non-redundant cable supported walkways, curved super structures, and materials not commonly used in highway bridges. Some of these bridges are over busy state highways and carry many pedestrians daily. The absence of any state-wide uniform inspection requirements elevates the risk associated with such bridges. This research project addresses the issues related to in-service inspection needs associated with pedestrian bridges.
