Utilizing Social Media Data for Estimating Transit Performance Metrics in a Pre- and Post-COVID-19 World
This project aims to assess the perception of public transit service from the standpoint of customer. Using publicly available social media posts and analyzing the sentiment over time, the service perception will be quantified. In addition, the perception of public transit can be determined by delay, station environment, etc. or perception of public health safety around the time of pandemics such as COVID-19. In this study, the research team will also study the public perception of transit service before and after the lockdown due to COVID-19 and draw insights on determining factors that drive customer perception of public transit.
