Implementation Assistance for the Kentucky Crack Test (KYCT)
Kentucky is currently in the process of implementing an asphalt cracking test and Hamburg rut test for asphalt acceptance. As part of this process, various projects have been let or will be let soon and will include this type of testing conducted by the contractor and the Division of Materials on a pilot basis. The contractors will share test information with Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) for further analysis to assist in determining appropriate threshold/acceptance levels. Kentucky has also made other changes in asphalt mixture design processes in recent years that should be included in this analysis.
