Assessment of Transportation Systems Resilience for Vulnerable Communities and Populations
This research seeks to investigate, understand, model, and develop innovative solutions for: risks and vulnerabilities of vulnerable populations pertaining to critical infrastructure. Vulnerable populations in this study will include older adults, ethnic minority groups, and rural populations; in the state of Florida. Natural hazards affecting vulnerable populations will include hurricanes and storm surges. The overall goal of this project is to provide tools and resources for Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to develop transportation systems resilience policy and guidelines to improve the outcomes for vulnerable communities and populations, especially regarding resilience to natural hazard events (specifically hurricanes and storm surges).
