SPR-4450: Visualization of Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) Data and Road Imagery for Enhanced Pavement Assessment
Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) conducts falling weight deflectometer (FWD) testing to assess the structural capacity of road pavements. A human inspector goes through the collected data, which is linked with global positioning system (GPS) information, and decides about an appropriate follow up action. However, a nonpictorial evaluation as such is not ideal for locating a critical area with reference to its immediate vicinity and areal conversance of the INDOT personnel. To address this shortcoming in the standard operating procedure, the research team proposes to develop an application and a visualization tool for FWD data by integrating it with Google Maps and image data recorded by cameras.
