Development of a Moisture Sensitivity Test for Asphalt Mixtures

The objective of the proposed study is to establish a reliable moisture-susceptibility test procedure to evaluate consistently the resistance of asphalt mixtures against the moisture-induced damage. Specific objective are to identify candidate laboratory test methods that can be used for asphalt mixtures’ moisture susceptibility evaluation, identify available moisture conditioning procedures for asphalt mixtures, evaluate current and candidate moisture susceptibility test methods with typical Louisiana asphalt mixtures, and establish a laboratory test protocol that combines a state-of-the-art moisture conditioning method and an advanced mechanical test method.
