Evaluation of Curing Effects on Cold In-Place Recycling (CIR)
The proposed research will provide tools and predictive capabilities to practitioners for reliably determining the extent of in-situ curing of cold in-place recycling (CIR) layers. Recommendations regarding the optimal time required for placement of the wear course on CIR will also be provided. The study will use in-situ testing of actual CIR project sites and supplementary laboratory tests to develop curing prediction models. Recommendations for specification changes will be proposed for implementation of the in-situ testing and curing prediction models. The final outcomes of this study will enhance construction quality and substantially lower risk of premature damage to CIR subsequently leading to lower agency construction and maintenance costs.
