Redefining Construction As‐Built Plans to Meet Current KYTC Needs
Assessments of current infrastructure in the early development stages of most projects yield a baseline for new design and remediation measures. It is essential for transportation agencies to have accurate and complete As‐Built Plans to plan maintenance activities, future improvements, and design new projects. However, timely and accurate production of As‐Built Plans has waned over the years. Currently, the Section Engineer’s Office prepares a complete set of Construction As‐Built Plans once a project is completed. This process is out‐of‐date and impractical because Section Engineer Offices lack the resources to develop complete As‐Built Plans. Technological changes have also dramatically changed the format, accuracy, and level of detail needed for As‐Built Plans.
