Multi-Disciplinary Safety Team & Local Road Safety Improvement Facilitation
Local collaboration in reviewing safety concerns while planning for events and potential transportation incidents is a key element in implementing highway safety best practices at the local level. Not only will communities be more prepared for emergencies, but they'll also benefit from the partnerships forged for improving the local transportation system safety infrastructure and operations shared among stakeholder agencies and jurisdictions. The tasks listed in this work plan will promote, create, facilitate, and support multi-disciplinary safety teams (MDSTs) throughout Iowa. In addition, they will assist state and local transportation agency safety partners with the development, application, and/or implementation of local road safety improvements; facilitate communication between partners; and, evaluate projects implemented.
