SPR-4221: Post-Fire Assessment of Prestressed Concrete Bridges in Indiana (Phase I)
The overall goal of this project is to develop and verify tools needed to inspect, assess, and evaluate the state of Prestressed concrete bridges in Indiana subjected to realistic fire scenarios. The project tasks are to evaluate: (i) the current state-of-knowledge, (ii) the effects of fire induced damage on the deterioration of concrete materials, steel strands, bond and transfer length, (iii) the effects of fire induced damage on the serviceability, strength, and structural performance of prestressed concrete bridge elements used in Indiana, and (iv) the effects of fire damage on a decommissioned INDOT prestressed concrete bridge with emphasis on deterioration of material properties, structural cracking and spalling, serviceability, and strength performance.
