SPR-4223: Link-Slabs Details and Materials
This research focuses on reviewing the current state-of-the-art and state-of-the-practice related to link slabs in bridge decks. Eliminating intermediate and end joints using link slabs can extend bridge service life at a fraction of cost and downtime compared to alternatives such as integral end bents. Relevant practice and other information related to design and construction of link-slab bridges will be collected and studied to inform the process of developing guidelines and design recommendation for the implementation of link slabs in Indiana bridges.
