Accounting for Interregional Travel in Regional Land Use and Transportation Plans: A Comparison of Attribution Methods

Researchers will conduct a thorough review of the published literature and consult with key staff at California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), California Air Resources Board (ARB), and California metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) involved in the development and evaluation of regional land use and transportation plans. Code will be developed to extract data needed from model output (i.e., tour and trip based as well as passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle data) and to calculate the various attribution methods for the five major regions in California (San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, San Joaquin Valley, Los Angles, and San Diego). Comparisons will be made to the base case scenario.
