Reusable Instrumented Test Pile Phase 2 (subcontracting with Great West Drilling)
The Task is a sole source service contract with Great West Drilling to support the Reusable Test Pile (RTP) project (Task 2343). By contracting for Becker Hammer services a $2.5 million capital cost for a Becker hammer rig is avoided. The rig will be used as part of the field testing program of the RTP. The RTP has been designed to be compatible with industry standard Becker pipe string. The Reusable Test Pile project is aimed at providing an economical alternative to conventional pile load tests. The RTP also provides a practical design procedure for piles and shafts in gravel and cobble soils which are very difficult to assess using conventional techniques.
