SPR-4102: Building, Evaluating, and Improving LiDAR-based Traffic Scanner Prototypes for Implementation to INDOT Practice - Phase II
The LiDAR-based system - TScan - addresses the need for fully automatic collection of comprehensive intersection data and analyzing these data where costly human observers or hybrid techniques (machine + human) are used. The proposed Phase II will develop a prototype unit to be evaluated and used by INDOT. An integration algorithm will be developed to enable use of two TScan units to cover large intersections with wide medians and channelization islands. Furthermore, proposed incorporation of traffic signals into the TScan results will help analyze signalized intersections.
