SPR-3833: Site Selection for New Lighting Technologies
Lighting is one of the proven safety countermeasures to reduce nighttime traffic crashes, particularly at intersections. This study will evaluate the effect of nighttime lighting on traffic safety, assess the in-service performance of new light sources, in particular LED and plasma lights, and develop a tool to assist INDOT Traffic Safety in comparing candidates and identify the most cost-effective solution to intersection lighting.
