Statewide Transit Technical Assistance and Training Program

The Statewide Technical Assistance and Training Program provides training and technical assistance to Florida's public transportation community. The purpose of the program is to ensure the highest level of productivity among transit professionals, promote and encourage management and operational efficiencies, promote and ensure safety and security at Florida's transit properties, and ensure the provision of more cost-effective transit services. Courses and workshops are provided throughout the year on wide ranging topics across transit disciplines. In addition, the program is also central to the Annual Florida Public Transit Association/Florida Department of Transportation/Center for Urban Transportation Research (FPTA/FDOT/CUTR) Professional Development Workshop which is held each June in Tampa, which combines structured training courses, project/program specific presentations, panel sessions, and roundtable topic-specific discussions in the areas of marketing, planning, transit operations, and transit maintenance management. Technical assistance in the form of route restructuring, policy board assistance, automatic vehicle location/American Public Transportation Association (AVL/APTS) technology application, agency restructuring and management productivity, National Transit Database reporting, and many others, has allowed transit agencies to be more productive, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and be more efficient and cost-effective in the provision of transit services.
