Developing a Framework for Better Addressing Health into Corridor Transportation Planning

The contractor will obtain information about the current range of health in transportation (livability, active living, land-use, safety, etc.) practices from existing legislation, regulations, and research efforts. The goal is to educate and inform the project management team. This will be accomplished through literature searches or scans, personal knowledge, outreach and reviews of the state of the practice. This will include a section that identifies and recommends possible methodologies and ideas about structuring the remaining research. The report will include recommendations about gaps in the current research, legislation and regulations and where to go next with studies such as Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recent studies including the Non-motorized Transportation Pilot Program, Metropolitan Area Transportation Planning for Healthy Communities Report, and Linking Transportation Planning with Public Health: An Ecological-Based Paradigm for Institutional Collaboration.
